57--10M Rufus

The End
Of a most successful gorge trip.
9 days in a row kiting.
Almost totally on the surfboard.
Today was a little gusty, but fun.
Good times with Vern Kyle Doug and family
Mark, Cheech and Chong and Matt for the end of the trip.
Saw Ray and many other gorge friends during the stay.

56--10M, 7M Rufus

We arrived to Matt and Doug launching
We quickly joined them for the smoother wind of the day.
Then the smaller kites came out.
I ended up on my old "06 Instinct that Matt was using.
Still a great kite but the lines are to long.
With Matt, Vern and Kyle in tow, we went sight seeing at the Wall.
Then rode the swell home.
Lots of shots in the campground finished the day.

55--10M Shipwreck

We stopped at cleanline surf shop and chatted with Josh.
He recommended that the best waves were between lot B and A.
So I kited there more than just rushing downwind.
I found lots more fun stuff to play on and had one of the best days yet in the waves.
A little light on power forced me to actually surf the wave more than just get pulled off of them.
the waves were not big, but I learned a lot. Can't wait to come back, maybe next month.
We're heading back to the gorge in the morning.

To bouy 9 and tequila.

53--8M Rufus

How can it get better every time out?
I dunno but it does.
I did shorter sessions, kinda,
to rest up for the coast tomorrow.
I'll be dreaming of surfing swell at the wall,
And waves at shipwreck, tonight.

51--9M,10M Rufus

Windiest day of the year in the corridor, according to Tamyra.
Rufus was calm in comparison.
First ride on the new, to me 9M Edge, great kite for everything except for chasing swell.
After lunch in the RV, and watching/chatting with Ray,
it was back on sthe water on 10M for a great afternon sesion.
One of those sessions that stick in my memories.

50-- 8M, 6M ES

Almost the same wind as yesterday.
I rode the little 4'8" skater.
Fun and slashy, but so much more work.
slash 3 times more that a biger board.
Second session not as mch swell and on 6M.
Back to Viento and Kitequila.
Picked up the slingshot SP wakesurfer and ordered some fins for it.
FCS pc3's are on order for it.

49-- 6M ES

Arrived in Hood River in time for the afternoon session at Event Site and rode the swell by Wells Island.
Kyle is here for the summer, so we met up with him. Chase is also here.
We camped at Viento after a Chile Pepper dinner.
Doug and family are at Viento, as is Mark and Sal.

48--15M ULSSB

Not as good, or as early as last night.
Rode raceboard first, just to get moving,
Then rode big twin tip, easier on the legs.
Finally enough wind to ride 135 twin,
and work on tricks for a while.
It got dark before I had time for the surf board,
or I would have rode em all.

47-- 15M ULSSB

If I closed my eyes, I would have thought I was in SPI.
The water must been close to 80 in the shallow water.
The wind was blow dryer smooth,
It started light, then nicely powered,
then started to let up at sunset.
Even the after work drive to get there was Pleasant.
Great day to work on anything,
with the warm water and lack of crowds.
Did many forward rolls, getting much better, but not styley.
And hand drag, backloop transitions.
