10-Skyline Sled

No wind, towed Arla to the cornices.
Matt an Arla jumped Corinces and skiied/boarded down.
The wind came up enough to sucker kiters out and down.
I towed lots of downed souls home.
Then towed lots to the top of Bosco to do some speed flying
and other activities.
The Tequila started flowing around the motel.
lots of shit faced kiters by the time the party started at the Triangle.
Sure glad Jason drove.

15--Skyline West 13M

The sunset session on the west ridge was the best riding all weekend.
Good wind, and suprisingly soft snow.
I decided to get back on my old board for the non powder session.
I love the Twisted, but for me, it's a powder board.
We rode till the sun went down.
Then headed to town for the beer party at the hotel.

14--Strawbs CC 13M

Matt and I packed up early for the Snowkitemasters weekend.
We thought Strawbs may have softer snow.
We were wrong.
Still had fun going around the hills looking for pow staches.

13--Buckskin Fork 13M

We rode out sleds to the top for a good session.
Some powder staches, but mostly just a few inches of fluff.
Nice steady wind. Kinda cloudy so visibility got flat.
Matt getting some rotations in.

9--Reservoir Mountians Sled

After such a great day of kiting.
Only light east wind to be found.
We still had a great sled ride,
checking out other possible kite sites.
Hills to climb.
Powder staches to carve up coming off the hills.
Huge meadows to get zooming on.
Untracked for as far as you can go.
Saw the top of Grand Teton from one ridge top.
Beautiful scenery all around.

12--Reservoir Mountians 13M

Looking at google earth, this place is called Indian Springs,
at the south tip of Reservoir Mts, by Blackfoot Reservoir.
Matt drove up also
We left no wind at the Dike house,
and sledded till we found wind, we rigged in an area that had a few features,
but quite open, so it would be easier for Irv.
By the time we rigged and Matt took a few runs, it was overpowering.
We were gonna rush back to get smaller kites.
On the way back we went by the hills that had no wind earlier.
We made a perfect choice to rerig.
We played on the face of he hill that I had my best glide ever last year.
After a while, I really worked the kite to get over a ridge that opened up a great area that we carved up for hours.
West facing gently slope with all kinds of rolling features.
By the time I started thinking about photos of this beautiful area,
the wind was getting lighter and the kite didn't want me to stop for photos.
We got back to the sleds, and de rigged in almost perfect calm.
Sledded back to the Dike house for celebratory Herrudura...

11--Monte 11M

Here is what Jon had to day about today...plus photos..
"Great day at Monte. Would not have happened except for the Sled boys, Marty and Matt who gave us, Me, Paul and Connor a tow to the ridge. Where we threw out the 12 and 10M Mantas and played in the slowing increasing winds and soft creamy fluff. Many thanks for making it happen. Monte is fast becoming a favorite. (I like it better than Skyline) May have to get a sled. Marty is getting to be a Rider, fun to watch him carve up the pow, looks like a pro hangin off one side and all, very cool."

10--Skyline 13M

SE winds made it fun to play on the west side.
Nice soft fluff ranging from 6" to over a foot. Creamy and soft.
Made up for the lack of good wind.
Full van with Doug, Matt and Vern.

8--Mirror Lake Hwy, Sled

Matt is still healing from breaking his hand.
Good time to explore kiting spots.
We were headed to Whitney, Moffit basin area,
via Mirror Lake Hwy.
The podwer was the best I've sledded in.
Meadows full of deep Pow made for fun carving.
I'm finally getting the counter steer carving turn down,
Great day...
Until we stopped to look out over everything at 10,000 ft.
Sled didn't want to start back up.
Finally got it, but started to sputter, Paraniod,
I headed back to the lot.
As I got lower, everything was fine.

Mat said he wanted to play in the pow close to the road on the way back,
and for me to head back.
I thought he was having a great time palaying in the pow,
but he blew a belt right after I left him.
He didn' have a clutch tool and took a long time.
I was almost ready to head back to look for him when he got back.

Friday the 13th

Called Bob, He told me about the carb heaters that may need to be turned on
at high elevations, in light fluffy powder. The carbs can freeze up at elevation.

9--11M. 13M Strawbs MC

Went to Strawbs with Jon.
Wind was light at Chicken Creek.
Eric suggested we go to Mud Creek.
Great choice on more westerly days.
Very good wind, and the best Pow of the year.
Up the hill sides, through the meadows, down to the lake.
Lots of fun carving the lip of a good sized cornice down to size.
Fought my lines on my 13m for a while, made me tired walking in the Pow.

7--6 Shooter Sally, Sled

Last nights herrudura was great.
Not much wind in the forecast,
so we headed north of Soda.
Great ride in a little powder filled valley between to ridges.
We could ride the trees on one side,
rip through the powder in the meadow/valley,
then up the open hills on the other side,
then just do it over and over again for miles.
When we got back to town late in the day,
we were told it was windy in town all day.
But we still had one of the best rides ever.

5--Monte Sled

Great experience, riding with Bob.
I learn a lot every time.
Bonus is how much he knows the backcountry at Monte.
Fresh bowls of powder all day.
Started at 9, got back to parkinglot at 5.
Ran out of gas 5 feet from my trailor.
