95--Woodland Campground 12MII

Matt and I planned on just sledding.
At the last second, we packed our kites.
The east wind opened up new possibilities for us.
We didn't have to travel very far to find an open ridge with wind.
Fun hill, that we carved up for a while.
Then after the wind got light, we sledded till almost dark.

94-- Chalk Creek 13M

Not much snow, but good wind.
It started out very sticky, and hard to get around.
Then changes to good sliding,
just as the wind got lighter.

93--Skyline old 11M

Snowkiting is on, good early season conditions.
Lots of bushes still showing, so I chose to use my old kite,
just in case it went down and had to slide across the ground.
Matt, Brian and I headed to the west ridge, always my favorite.
We all found our own little un tracked patch to cut up.
We just got out of the van from a break, for the second session,
and the wind just completely died,
kites falling from the sky and kiters walking back.
Looong drive home.
Excited to get to Lake Creek soon.

92--Willard 11M

Planned on meeting Doug for a last kite at Willard.
The forecast was for light wind, but I started getting texts early.
Doug works pretty close to Willard, and said there was no wind there.
Driving there, I thought I made a mistake,
no wind, until I got to the willard point.
Rigged 11M and full cold season battle gear.
Ken was there also, I get bored riding alone.
Rode pretty lit for a little over an hour.
I forgot my helmet, which made me loose heat from my head,
other than that, I was warm.
But not warm enough for any tricks, just big jumps in the overpowering wind.
I would think that is the last water day for 2010, but I'll never say never.
Big snow storms coming, snowkiting maybe next week.

Jim took a few pix,
as usual, I didn't

91--17M SPI

After a much needed day off yesterday,
it was a good, powered, Zephyr wind for our last day here.
7 of 8 days, most were good wind days.
Early, lighter wind today, so
I put the head to head test of the Xenon and Misfit to task.
The Misfit only won out in the lightest of winds, but amazingly,
only by a little bit.
Laluz has so much more pop and "fun factor"
To many weeds, to have fun on the surfboard,
I only did a couple of tacks, and switched.
We had a great time here, but it's time to be home.

Friday, October 29, 2010

90--11M SPI

We nailed it early because of the lightening forecast.
Finally rode the surfboard,
yesterdays nuker must have cleaned out the weeds.
Fun to hit the jibes fast with a downloop for speed.
Rode the twin for a little while, nailed front roll, perfectly.
I should have worked on them more.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

89--7M SPI

The storm came through strong.
We waited most of the day
for the nasty gusty to calm down.
Late afternoon gave up 2 strong sessions.
We kited till almost sunset.
Yahoo...

88--17M SPI

We knew it would happen at least one day,
The Zephyr was the only kite staying up wind.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

87--7M, 10M SPI

Off shore on the gulf, so
Ripping 7M at the flats for hours,
then lighter wind for the afternoon session.
Gotta get on the surfboard soon,
even if the weeds are bad at the flats.

Monday, October 25, 2010

86--10M c4 SPI

After yesterdays marathon day,
we decided to pace ourselves for the rest of the week.
The winds were 28-35 most of the day.
The gulf looked to be a washing machine,
didn't see one kite out there today.
We stayed in the flats.
We took Jim to the south flats and Vern followed him downwind,
to meet at the south flats,
for his first session staying up wind.
Getting the feel for the C4, lots of fun flying it today.
More toeside backrolls, one nice one, most pretty rough.
Having hard time getting pop on toeside.
Kitequila!

Sunday, October 24, 2010

85--11M SPI

Kiteqila at its best.
Party last night,
but felt good enough for over 4 solid hours on the water.
(2 sessions)
New stuff today,,, toeside backrolls.
Landed some, not pretty, crashed on more.
The Xenon Laluz is turning into my favorite all time board,
Vern said the same, very versatile, on all fronts.
Top day.
I see downwinders in our near future.

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

84--11M PV

Not quite as windy as the last PV day,
but still a very fun afternoon.
One of those great timing days.
Someone got me stoned before I launched.
I liked it..

Sunday, October 10, 2010

83--11M PV

Pineview gave up one of the good ones today.
Powered 11M all afternoon.
WE rigged at Cemetery point, North.
It's In the wind sooner than at Middle Inlet.
Wish the water was this low all year.
Very good day.
Xenon 135 is perfect for powered PV.
And the super light weight make it great for packing in.

Friday, September 24, 2010

82-- PV 17M

In between moving to new house,
I got a few rides at Pineview.
Nothing spectacular.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

81--17M Deer Creek

They had good winds yesterday,
same basic pattern today.
Pretty light, nothing to impressive.
But saw the Utah crowd, it's been a while.

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

80--Willard 10M

80 days, looks like I'll be back on track for 100+, It's been a few years.

I started on the 11M, but quickly rigged down,
I rode the 135 Xenon which was nice in the small chop and swell,
went to the surfboard and enjoyed the slashing.
2 hour session, then back home to finish chores.
Wish every day was like that.
Half hour drive, couple hour session, then home quickly.
Sounds like Ray and Sophie's life!

Monday, September 06, 2010

79--PV 17M

The wind looked so good ,that I rigged my 11M.
Doug on his 13M
But when we put our kites up,
there was no power in the wind, crazy.
Rigged the Zephyr, and got some rides.
Later, we took Jim on his waverunner, up wind and launched him,
for a downwinder, and followed him on his seadoo.

Sunday, September 05, 2010

78--11M Bear Lake

I saw that the Jackson crew was heading to Bear Lake, on Facebook.
So I contacted Doug and Vern, then the JH crew, and off we went.
We've been waiting a long time for a decent forecast, to head to BL.
The Jackson boys were there when we arrived.
We probably would have chosen a different launch than they did,
but it was nice, sandy side on conditions.
We were at the NE side, but not quite in the corner.
pretty puffy, and even drop your kite lulls, at first.
Then later, It filled in and was nice, but the chop was head on,
NOT what we were looking for.
Where were the big swells we remembered?
The JH crew took lots of photos.

77--ULLB 17M

I was working down south,
Kitequila at Windzup.
(Kitetequila=tequila and kiting, within 12 hour period)
demoed the 135 Zenon board,
after I knew I had enough power to ride smaller board.
It did well, but the 135 is not a light wind board.
Can't wait to ride it with the 11M.
and to try the bigger size Xenon's.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

76--11M PV

We headed to Sulphur, but when we got there,
it was blowin 35-47. To much.
So we headed home and took a detour to Pineview.
Jim was out on his boat, so we did a downwinder,
in the light PV winds.
Good thing he followed us, it died and he picked us up.
Pretty anticlimactic, after yesterday,
and a week removed from a great Gorge trip.

Saturday, August 28, 2010

75--Willard 7M

Started with a quick out and back on the 11M,
but quickly ramped up to 7M.
2 sessions on the surfboard and the twintip.
The swell built nicely as the day went on.
So much funner on the surfboard, than it used to be on the windsurfer.
Tight swell, not so tight with a 5'8" board, compared to 8'+
LOTS of kiters and windsurfers there, for Willard.
Stupid people come around in high winds,
that have no experience for that strong of wind.
Spent one full session, babysitting kiter that couldn't keep his board on,
and couldn't ride switch, back to the beach.
Another dumb ass launching 4M foil "trainer" in the crowded beach of kids,
with pavilions downwind of him, luckily, talked him to go away from both, before he finally had his kitemare.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

74--11M Shipwreck

Finaly, after 3 years, back for the shipwreck downwinder!
Lighter winds, and small waves, but perfect for first time on surfboard.
Actually surfed, with turns, not using the power of the kite.SO much fun. Dinner at Bouy 9, Great way to finish the trip.Back to Shangrayla tonight, then drive home.

Monday, August 23, 2010

73--10M Manzo

The wind came up earlier at MManzo, so we rigged for point kiting, ride a few small waves, then point upwind to do it again. But the wind was really bad inside in the waves, so kinda dissapointing ocean session. Really do like the C4 for ocean sailing, super quick turny kite, and floats above you very nicely on a wave.PC crashed lasat night. The fan died and PC overheating and shuts off, glad Ihave Blackberry to help find the wind. Looking like shipwreck downwinder next!

Sunday, August 22, 2010

72--7M Rufus

How is it possible to get better than yesterday?
Stronger wind, brings BIGGER swell.
Simply amazing...
Swear that some were over my head,
when I was in a trough,
and glassy smooth water in between.
Craig sailed down from the Wall to say hi,
then I rode up to return the greeting.
And, to top it off, while having kitequila
with Jon, Vern, and Brian and Kyle in attendance,
The forecast has changed to wind on the coast!
Today was defiantly a surfboard day,
but rode the Xenon board a little, great all around board,
smooth in the chop, surfy feel, and super light weight.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

71--9M Rufus

When we arrived at Rufus,
everyone was trying to decide 8M or 10M
made my decision easy,, 9M, ha..
Jumped on the new Fish shape surfboard,
and fell in love with it.
Best day ever on a surfboard,
carving up the swell from wall to wall.
I really feel like this is the funniest way to enjoy kitesurfing.
I'm ready for ocean waves, wish it would blow at the coast.
Windzup's, Xenon twintips tomorrow,
gonna kite till I puke tomorrow.
It may be the last windy day for this trip.

Friday, August 20, 2010

70--Rufus 10M, 11M

Jon, Vern, Kyle, Ray, Sophie Wayne and Pascal form Jackson,
all having fun at slashing swell at Rufus today,
Under powered early on with 10M,
but much better second session on 11M and surfboard.
Jon and I went to Naish and bought closeout surf board
5"8" fish, cant weight to try it
Surfboards are so much fun at Rufus.
Thai food and kitequila at shangRayla.

Friday, August 13, 2010

69--Alexander 17M

Such a sweet surprise session in Soda...
Very smooth wind today, flat water to boot.
Probably the funnest solo session, I've hade in YEARS.
13 M would have been a better call, but Zeph was still fun.
Reminded me of good Rush days.
Shallow water, mud trails behind the board!!
But , much nicer mud/sand combo.
If it would only do that lots more,
It would be worth the drive to go there.

Sunday, August 08, 2010

68-Willard 11M

Both days I was getting ikitesurf texts as early as 6:30 from POE meter.
Then checking the web cam, we made the decision to run out there.
Sunday didn't get as crowded, and we kited until the wind was to light for 11M.
Quite a surprise to get it at Willard in Aug.

Saturday, August 07, 2010

67--Willard 11M

Early AM texts got me looking at the web cam,
Called Doug, and off we went.
Pretty good wind, for a while,
then a lull that put us to shore,
It picked back up, but we felt it was getting to crowded on the beach to be safe.
We left for Sulphur, and arrived to micro burst wind.
A little exploring at Woodruff was good, but still Tstorms floating around.
Gotta go back there on a windy day, we may have been missing something.

Sunday, August 01, 2010

66--Rufus 17M, 11M

Very light Zephyr winds for the early session.
Didn't seem to pick up much, but rigged the 11M.
Rode twintip some, but mostly getting the surfboard jibes down.
Even some with speed.
Full day, 11-7 with 2 short breaks.
Forecast isn't great out east,
so it must be time to head home.
Thanks Ray and Sophie,
"splendid time"
(and Mark and Doug, earlier in the trip)

65--9M,8M Rufus

After kitequila last night
things were a little slow getting started today.
9m on the Jimmy was a good call first thing today.
The 2 repairs on the strut aren't holding,
It was limp after the session
wish It had gone bad at home, I have a new strut at home...
Climbed in the van for a short nap.
After that Ray had his 8m RPM rigged and ready,
I rode the swell on the surfboard
and it was great time carving, slashing around.
RPM is fine, felt the heavier bar pressure,
and the non direct feel of the pully's.
But couldn't deter from the best session of the trip.

Friday, July 30, 2010

64--Rufus 11M 10M

Finally a day out of the corridor.
Rufus was great 11M for the early session.
Let a few kiters try my Edge,
of course, the loved it, maybe 2 sold.
Rode the 10M and the surfboard to the Wall for the 2nd session.
Not much swell, but good practice.
Kitequila at Ray's cabana.
Excelent

63--11M, 9M ES

Went for the 11M early,
of course it picked up,
but got some 5 story elevator rides,
before coming in to rig down to 9M.
Was planning on a surf session on the 9M
but again it ramped up, I didn't rig down,
but felt I would have been over juiced on the surfboard.
Rode the Jimmy to above Wells Island, LIT.
Fun tricks in the flatter water up there,
then ride the swell back to the sand bar.
Mark and I had shots at the Mexican restaurant,
I'm exhausted.
Hope to kite Rufus soon....

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

62--ES 11M

Still some monsoonal moisture messing with things.
We lucked into abut 2 hours of sunny good wind.
Started on the twin tip, and really enjoying the power,
tricks were fun, but really wanted surfboard time.
Once on the surfboard, it was nice to learn to slash some swell,
and work on some jibes, great time.
After getting tired on the different board,
and when it was time to come in,
the wind got thunderstorm flukey.
After that, everyone getting off the water,
was bitching about the shitty conditions.
Glad we got the best of it, really fun...

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

61--Event Site 10M

Good kiting in the corridor,
sand bar to hatch,
riding the small unorganized swell.

Sunday, July 25, 2010

60-Jones Beach 9M

Went with the forecast, to the coast.
Disappointed at the lack of wind,
Mark and I left for an afternoon session at Jones Beach.
I though I had forgot how to kite,
but when I got back to the beach,
I realized that my center strut was deflated,
really mad the kite unresponsive.

Monday, July 19, 2010

59--SC 17M 11M

Getting to be more kiters at Sulphur,
calling it "fight Club"
first rule of fight club, there is no fight club,
second rule of fight club, it"it sucks up here"
unless you wait for it to get good.
It started light with rippn gusts, and drop your kite lulls,
Doug and I waited,
the others had to try, and were schloggn and dropping kites.
After a few sacrificed and left, it smoothed out,
and even picked up to 11M.
I had a self land almost go bad,
I need to re rig my kites to have the through the bar safety back on them.

Sunday, July 11, 2010

58--17M 11M SC

Kinda thought we were going on a scenic drive. Arrived to light winds, and rigged big. Soon after we got on the water, it picked up good. We thought it was cloud based and stood around for a while, it continued so we rigged 11M and had a long very good session. No windsurfers, 5 kites total, alost a crowd

Saturday, July 10, 2010

57-- 17M SC

Kitequila...
Tequila at Irvs's
kiting at Sulphur.
First time with big kite at SC,
northerly direction made it safe,
incase of lulls, but there weren't many.

Monday, July 05, 2010

56--DC 17M

Started at 2, done by 4:30
Very up and down.
Misfit, surfboard, Recoil, and new best board.
Wasn't ready for the day to be done.

Sunday, July 04, 2010

55-- ULLB 17M

When we arrived, Mark was just ending his 11M session.
But the wind died off to less than Zephyr wind.
It finally came back up and gave us all good rides.
I rode the surfboard to exhaustion
Not the craziness that was there last Saturday.

Friday, July 02, 2010

54--7M, 9M SC

We rushed to willard cause 26-33 on the meter,
8-11 when we got there,, SKUNK.
So , off to Sulphur withe texts telling us it gusting to 56!!
Kenny was out when we got there, not really making it look to fun.
Rigged my 7M, but it wasn't quite enough. and 20M lines didn't help.
It slowly smoothed out as the day went on,
I had a pretty fun 9M session, the swell in the middle was great,
but didn't dare to stay out so far for long.
Reports said it may have been good 11M after 5:00??

Crazy Jerry had old wipika and went straight across,
then couldn't put kite down because he was carabinered in, and had no flagout on his kite.
So he just stood there waveing for help IDIOT,
After Kenny rescued him,
he came over and just argued with us about how good he was,
and that his gear is just fine.
The only kiter I know that was banned from the gorge.

Thursday, July 01, 2010

53--13M Yuba

After a slow start in the morning.
we made it to the water for some 13M smoothies.
Then headed north and back to work

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

52-- 11M Yuba

Kitequila,, a new term for recreation.
I left work early and headed through a major rain storm
to meet up with Brian and Heather
at Yuba in time for 11M greatness.
I love that kite more every time I ride it.
rode Recoil, Jimmy and surfboard.
Corellejo around the camp fire

Monday, June 28, 2010

51-- ULLB 17M

Late evening till dark,
hairdryer smooth, yet light wind.
These days are what the 17M Zephyr was made for.
Staycation ended with 7 of 9 days on the water.

Saturday, June 26, 2010

50--ULLB 17M

Doug and I were heading to Deer Creek,
got a wind text that Lincoln was blowing.
We headed south..
Pretty light when we started,
then got stronger around 6.
I spent the last session on the surfboard,
working on getting better at the jibes.
Surfboard adds new dimension to kiting.

Friday, June 25, 2010

49--DC 13M,17M

Started out looking strong enough to ride 13M
rode till it died,
then rode the Zephyr till it died again.
Kinda disappointing day.

48--DC 17M

Wind looked good enough that I rigged 13M first.
But backed off to Zephyr wind.
Ended up on the surfboard,
later in the afternoon,
glad I did, it's fun to change things up.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

47--DC 11M e

Normally I would have rigged 13M in the wind we had at Deer Creek.
I really wanted to try the new 11M in that kind of wind.
I was up and going very powered,
but needed that little bit more for jumping and tricks.
I should have rode my directional some today, next time.

Monday, June 21, 2010

46--SC 11M

Very gusty winds today, made yesterday seem costal smooth.
Doug was taping, but the winds offshore of the parking lot were VERY turbulent.
Still good to see how little my jumps are, and how rough everything is.
I could blame it on the turbulence, but I know better.
Windsurfers rippn and schloggn, all came up after,
I could see the "want to kite" look in their eye.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

45--Sulphur Creek 11M '10 Edge

First off, I gotta say, that I think the new 11M Edge,
may be the best kite ever made,
POWER, boost!!! Fast, and great range.

One of the top days ever at Sulphur.
Maybe it was the new kite, maybe it was just good wind,
and fairly flat water conditions, that made for long day of fun.
I just hope everyone keeps thinking that Sulphur is dangerous.
Every other Utah spot is getting crowded.
Doug, Vern, Bob and Kyle..
Jim was there with his new wave runner, for support,
but never touched the water.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

44--Willard 11M 13M

After a quick trip north working today, got to Willard in time to get some very good afternoon rides. Just as I was to self launch, Kenny pulled up. We had the place to our selves. Thunder storm on the west mountains, kinda killed the wind for a little while, then I went back out for a short sesh, while Kenny was de riggn. Tail grabs, pull up on the board and toe point, was the trick for the day.

Friday, June 11, 2010

43--ULLB 10M

After the rain cloud passed,
Doug, Vern, Patrick, and I
had the place to ourselves for the next few hours,
until the next rain came in.
Doug and Vern Demoing C4 9M.
I got virgin rides on my C4 ,10M.
Totally opposite kite than the Edge.
Great for what it is intended for,
but I like the jumps on the Edges much better,
I like the range and the swell riding on the C4 better.
I checked out Surf Sal Padre in the high winds,
frickn awesome, big long smoothies between the swell.

Sunday, June 06, 2010

42--17M DC

Wow, 3 days in a row, summer is here.
The big Zephyr 17 is a great Utah kite.
Once again I could have been on 13M,
but the lift makes for good jumping
and trick making, and handles overpowered great.
I'm able to get on smaller boards earlier.
New trick, grab the board tail on a jump,
then extend the front leg to a point.

Saturday, June 05, 2010

41--17M ULLB

Defiantly Zephyr weather today.
13M's were cruising, but Z added the fun.
No big jumps, but spins a plenty,
and low jumps with kite loop out.
I think the water is sometimes funner to be on at ULLB,
with less wind, good distance between the swells.

Friday, June 04, 2010

40--17M ULLB

My first Utah Lake session this year.
I was down south working and stayed over with Brian and Heather.
South winds all day on my travels,
but the forecast was for north wind at Utah Lake.
Pretty sure there was wind at Yuba, but ULLB was the plan.
Huge crowd at the parking lot.
I rigged up my new C4 10M, just to get the lines attached.
It was pretty late when it finally started to blow.
As I hit the water, I could have already been on a smaller kite.
The Zephyr handled it fine, giving up some big airs for me.
If I hadn't de rigged the C4,
I could have flown it for the last half hour before dark.
The drive home sucked, if I had not stopped for food, then for gas,
I would have missed the freeway closure, to install a new bridge.
Then stopping at the store to unload.
Finally home at 11:30

Monday, May 31, 2010

39--11 DC

Great day at Deer Creek.
Plenty of power for big airs.
Doug and I were "playing to the crowds"
that were on the pullouts on the road.
timing on the 11m was very comfortable today.

Sunday, May 30, 2010

38--17M PV

Basically a downwinder,
with boat support from Jim.
Ralph was the only other kiter to join in.
There were a few powered reaches,
amongst the major lulls.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

37--17M Willard

A lot less wind than I was hoping for.
A few powered reaches, with jumps and spins,
but mostly b&f'n.
Vern rode his surfboard for the first time.
He looked like the surfboard thing is what he should be doing.
Just gona take time to get use to it.

Saturday, May 15, 2010

36--PV 13M

With the water so high
our usual launch was gone.
So we went to windsurf point.
Jim was there for boat support,
and Doug was kite bitch :)
Vern and I launched across the bay,
and had fair power for hours of fun.
Bob, Sarah, Linda, windsurfing along side.

Friday, May 07, 2010

35- 9M SPI

Last day here, was the gusty, lullyiest,
I've ever seen here.
Reminded me of Utah wind.
Rode Wayne's new Edge, nice kite.
Fun trip, now travel time...

Thursday, May 06, 2010

34--11M 9ME SPI

The day started lit on 11M.
Big jumps, big spins, forwards coming along good.
Tried a forward on my bad side, crashed the kite,
and when I looked up, it had a torn panel.
bummer, all was feeling sooooo good.
We had planned to do a gulf side downwinder in the waves,
but 11M was the size to do it with.
We tried a quick repair with some good tape that
would not leave a residue for the repair guys to bitch about.
It looked pretty good, I got some more rides.
Wayne and I headed up wind to the flat water site.
We were ripping fast in the flats.
To fast, with all the speed pressure, the panel didn't hold.
Better to let go in the Laguna, than in the ocean.
Later I rigged 9 Edge, and just cruised for a late session.
I could have easily been on 13m.
But now I have flown every kite I brought down.
Also confirmed that surfboard is not better in light wind,
than a good twin tip.

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

33--11M 13M

Started the day rigging smaller than others for 2 reasons,
#1, I wanted to ride the rental surfboard to practice jibing it.
#2, It was forecasted to increase in wind.
First happened, quite successfully,
Got almost all my jibes on good side,
and most of my jibes on my bad side.
The second never happened.
The wind just stayed the same, just gustier.
I did ride John's new C4 kite,
and decided I would not want one in a large size.
But I Skyped Heather, to order me one in a 10M.
It should be fun for me in that size.
Later, I rigged my 13M for a late session,
and finished off the day on the surfboard again.
Great full day of kiting,
although my timing on the twintip board, really sucked.

32--17M--SPI

Started the day with thoughts of a no wind day.
Got a ikitesurf wind test on my phone.
So off we went to the beach, rigged big,
and had hours of light wind fun.
Jim got to use his new kite,
and rode a rented monster door,
for his first rides.

31--9M 17M SPI

Early session was great powered kiting,
working on, and landing forwards rolls,
Very happy with progress.
When it got lighter,I tried to ride my repaired 13M
The dumb assholes didn't even attach the one pump to the strut,
by the time I got it attached and smoothed out the bladder kinks,
It was time for a fun 17M session.

30--South Padre 17M

The first day after a trying flight here,
was just light wind, marginal stuff.
Glad I had the big kite.

29--Willard 7M

It was 7M valet kiting,
I pulled up, rubbered up,
and Doug handed me his kite, Ahhh..

28--Skyline 17M

I worked down south, stayed with B&H.
The forecast looked so much better than the actual wind.
The snow was pretty nice and soft, for how late in the year.
Most kited on bosco hill, but I chose the west ridge,
I think the wind was better, and I like the different terrain options.
Tried to get a water session at ULLB on the way home, but it was to light.

27--Willard 17M 11M

Got there around 11, rigged 13M.
Jeff arrived, then Vern, and the wind died.
I rigged 17M for the first session wen it came up, light.
Doug came after lunch, and we rigged 11M.
Good, long day, with fair wind over all,
not as cold, but very choppy water, going out.

26--Willard 11M 9M

On the water by 9AM!!!
Hard to get moving today after good sled ride with Terry and Matt.
Good thing Doug called early, I would have slept in.
We started with 11M, then it ramped up to 9M,
then even 7M for Doug and Vern.
After a long lunch break, we went back out for
another 9M session, until it back off.
It would have been great 11M even then.
The water was colder than last time, they are dumping spring run off, in.

25--LC 12MII

Spent the morning at the sled shop. We finally got to the trailhead at 2:00
The snow was some of the best of the year, on the sled.
We took our time sledding in the trees, finding killer powder stashes to play in.
The wind was ripping on top, the surface was beat up bad by days of howling winds.
We could feel the instability of the jet stream stirring the atmosphere.
Lower in the bowls was the call, still turbulent winds, but we kited for about 2 hours.
Then we decided that the sledding may be better than the kiting.
IT WAS... the best day sledding ever for me.
The powder in the trees was awesome.
We would slip through the trees and then it would open up into our own untracked powder fields.
I can finally get the sled to do carving powered turns, and grip sideways on the sidehills.
We got back to the parking lot at dusk, then a great meal at a Vietnamese restaurant.

24--Willard 11M 9M (7M)

First day on the water, was hard to pull off.
As we sat in the van, it looked too cold.
We almost wimped out,,,,
But finally got out and rigged, 11M at first.
It was almost immediately overpowering,
but rode for a while, and finally self landed behind the trees.
Then rigged the 9M,,, LIT again, for most of the session.
Came in at a time the wind meter at POE was over 50mph.
Doug went out on his 7M after we decided to take turns launching and landing each other. It was to strong for self launches and landings.
The wind was pretty good, reminded me some of Maui winds. (7M)
And the swell was excellent for about an hour.
Just a few minutes after quitting, it slowly clocked to northerly, and nuked even harder.
But we were both worn out and didn't re rig for the north

23--LC 17M 12M

Early winds were the call today,
Matt and Craig joined in sledding to the top of Lake Creek.
It was OK wind when we started, but just got lighter and lighter.
Still great of get speed up on the hills, and loop it back to the top.
The snow is still good, and got better with the solar, as the day progressed.
We packed up at 4 in search of wind in other locations, with now luck.
On the way back. LC had winds and gave up another evening session.

22--LC 17M

We really wanted Ray and Sophie to join our Mt Top kite club.
With help of Craig and his tow along.
We slowly lumbered up the hill to find wind and freshies at the top.
The sleds found our little skate park, but it was soft enough that it didn't ruin it.
I really like the little rolling half pipes and small hills to jump off.
I did my first kite loop out of a true glide today!!!
It felt so natural, with a super soft landing, and a Ray as my witness.

21--VA 11M, CCW 12MIII

View Area was first off for us today, Ray and Sophie and Jon.
Rippn when we arrived, so I rigged 11M.
As I was standing at the top, the wind switched from west to east.
I was thinking about heading west, but the wind filled in,
everyone started kiting the east wind.
Snow conditions sucked, and the wind did also after a short run in the hills.
I made it back to the parking lot,
and after Whit came by and informed us the wind was blowing good at CC
I headed west, thinking the crew would follow.
CC west was windy, and the snow had softened.
I rode with Whit on top of the hills,
and had as many mini glides and spins as I wanted.
but I wish I has stayed at VA, because I heard it picked back up there.

20--VA 12MIII, Strawbs River 17M

View Area was calling today, and I answered.
It was fun out in the terrain, and the snow wasn't to bad.
Until it changed, and my board felt like it had glue on it.
I struggled to get back, planning to just add wax.
When I finally made it back,
It looked like the guy's were struggling with light wind.
John Guay and I thought we would see if the wind was better
at CC or Strawb River.
CC was dying, but SR had enough wind for the 17M.
I was actually pretty lit, and had to depower some at first.
But it did make for some powered jumps that were very fun.
Two fun sessions today.

19--PM 17Z

Superfly time at Powder Mountain.
Not to bad of snow conditions, but pretty light wind.
Zephyr was the call, especially for the race.
Racing was pretty fun again.
The start was right at a dead time,
4 kites made the start, and with the apparent wind going down hill,
they all took off, very slowly,
The rest of us dropped our kites in the dead wind. I was the first to get mine back up,
after about a 4 minute wait.
There was barely enough power to get moving,
I had to sit down and roll over Heather's lines, on my butt.
There was not enough to even keep the kite going, and jump over her lines.
Of course we were all kinda laughing all the time this was going on.
They only ran one heat because of lack of wind.
All skiers went together, pro, amateur and women, then all snowboarders did the same.
James won the pro division, I was second in amateur,, 5th over all, Heather was 1st women's.
The wind did pick up a little, later, and we had some fun free riding.
I liked the kicker they made by the radar tower, then getting big jumps going down hill over there.
Tequila party in the room, then walked to the bar. Fun band, actually was out dancing.
Then hot tub till 1:30.
Saturday was a whiteout, tequila recovery day, and awards and raffle.
I won a nice pair of Skull Candy headphones.
